the new S. Korean president: Who is Lee Jae-myeong?

Lee Jae-myeong is recently inaugurated S. Korean president since June 4th, 2025. Before this position, he was the opposition leader. The opposition party’s name is 더불어민주당, the Together Democratic Party. This party’s name has “Democratic” word, but it doesn’t have any democracy. The party is pro-China, pro-North Korea, anti-America, pro-communism, pro-totalitarianism and pro-socialism. This party welcomes Chinese to come to S. Korea because Chinese can vote after they live for at least 3 years in S. Korea since getting the permanent residency in the country. The party is sure that Chinese residents would vote for the Together Democratic Party because it is pro-China and pro-Chinese. One example that the party is pro-China is Lee’s remark. He said that he should say just shie-shie, Chinese words meaning thank you, to China as well as to Taiwan, instead of interfering China-Taiwan territorial affairs. One example that the party is pro-Chinese is that the party includes a Chinese chosen with the proportional representation system, and this Chinese proportional representative went through presidential electioneering tours while saying Chinese words asking for the supports and votes for Lee Jae-myeong at local places in S. Korea for the recent 21st presidential election. Most Koreans are angry about that because they cannot understand why Chinese are able to vote for S. Korean president while they cannot vote for Chinese leader in the same way, which is unfair and against principle of reciprocity. The important fact is that the number of Chinese who have lived over 3 years since having gotten the permanent residency in the country and who got the right to vote is approximately 100,000. Those Chinese can vote only for local elections but a Chinese uploaded a video clip at the end of May 2025, showing her ballot paper that she voted for Lee Jae-myeong in the preliminary voting booth.

Lee is notorious for cheating people in S. Korea (the Republic of Korea) who recently taken the presidential position away from Yun Seok-yul. Why did he take it? Many Koreans are suspecting that Lee wanted to protect himself from guilty verdicts because Korean president has a privilege not to be arrested except treason(내란죄: internal rebellion) or external concern crime(외환죄: crime to help an enemy country and so endanger his or her country). Why is he notorious for cheating Koreans? He easily took chances to avoid critical public opinions by changing his stances from his previous ones. One case of them is that he started hunger strike before getting agreeing votes at the National Assembly about Lee to be arrested. Agreeing votes counted for 149 out of 298, which led to approval of his arrest. Before that his hunger strike, he had announced he would give up the privilege of freedom from arrest. In order to protect himself, he didn’t care about saying words totally different from previous ones. He also didn’t care about insulting citizens by making vulgar remarks. It wasn’t only one case. There have been numeral insulting remarks that he made online as well as offline. It is so easy to find video clips to support that. One is that he insulted a citizen when he visited his old village and the citizen repeated outcries to go putting out a big fire.

Furthermore, Lee already has 4 criminal records and still has judicial risks which are 12 charges and are about 5 ongoing trials. One of previous convictions is conspiracy of pretending to be a prosecutor. Another is drunken driving. One of ongoing trials is cheating voters by saying that he didn’t know Kim Moon-ghi who was director of Development Projects at Seong-nam Metropolitan Development Corp. and killed himself after being a testifier about Daejang-dong development project which is related to Lee Jae-myung, Seong-nam mayor at that period. There are 6 more dead people surrounding Lee Jae-myung. The 7 deaths are ones under suspicious circumstances. A person is still left alive, who is Yoo Dong-kyu, who had worked under Lee, and revealed veiled things about Lee on Youtube channels, so he is currently under pressure whether he would be “killed himself” as well. Another of ongoing trials is related to the case of remittance to N. Korea. Lee Wha-yeong, former Kyeong-ghi province deputy governor and Ssangbangwool independent director, was found guilty at the Supreme Court and got sentenced to (only) 7 years and 8 months on June 5th 2025. The Supreme Court acknowledged that Lee Wha-yeong illegally remitted 8 million dollars to N. Korea in order to get the permission from N. Korea for Lee Jae-myeong to visit N. Korea. This case violated UN’s and American sanctions against N. Korea. However, he was elected to be S. Korean president and the Together Democratic Party pushed judges at courts by manipulating the media while showing that the party members were intending to make any laws protecting Lee Jae-myeong. They had tried to legislate without any discussion or mutual consents with the People Power Party(the conservative party) while taking advantage of the more seats because the Together Democratic Party has 167 seats(Around 190 seats combining other progressive parties) compared to 107 of the People Power Party. As a result, judges declared that they would stop all the trials about Lee Jae-myeong, which was “judiciary death” and gave up justice for Lee Jae-myeong. Lee Jae-myeong and the Together Democratic Party destroyed separation of legal, administrative and judicial powers and Lee has the whole powers, so he is now a dictator.
